From Cabins to Condos
From Cabins to Condos,” published in 2006 to commemorate the City of Franklin’s 50th Anniversary, takes readers on a nostalgic journey through Franklin history, tracing its roots from a rural farm community in the 1830s to becoming one of the most rapidly growing areas in the State of Wisconsin.
The 208-page soft-covered anthology examines Franklin’s origins from the Wisconsin Territory of 1836 when the first settlers arrived from Ireland and were followed in quick succession by Dutch and German immigrants. Highlighted by anecdotal histories submitted by heirs of many long standing Franklin families, “From Cabins to Condos” gives readers a taste of life in rural America. Supplemented with dozens of photos, this publication also details the schools, churches, government and businesses that emerged to meet the demands of Franklin’s evolution from a sleepy rural hamlet to a progressive suburban community.
It is a must read for anyone who understands the value of preserving local history to gain an appreciation of the hard work and dedication of their ancestors who laid the groundwork for the opportunities we enjoy today.
If you wish to purchase “From Cabins to Condos” for $10, please send your payment, along with $6 for shipping to Franklin Historical Society, PO Box 300012, Franklin, WI 53132 or click the link below and pay with Paypal or credit card.
