Additional Information about our Lunch ‘N Learn Programs

Take a mid-day break and enjoy history with the Franklin Historical Society’s Lunch ‘N Learn series. Held on the third Wednesday of each month (except December), these informal gatherings offer a chance to learn something new while connecting with others who share an interest in Franklin’s rich past.

Guests are invited to bring a bag lunch and settle in at noon. A variety of complimentary snacks and water are also provided. At 12:30 p.m., the program begins with a presentation by a local historian or guest speaker. Each month highlights a different topic and different location—from the stories behind Franklin’s historic buildings to little-known aspects of daily life in the community’s early years. These talks are designed to be both engaging and accessible, making them a wonderful opportunity for lifelong learners, retirees, history enthusiasts, or anyone curious about the community they call home.

The Lunch ‘N Learn series is more than just a lecture—it’s a way to connect, share ideas, and keep Franklin’s history alive through conversation. Whether you attend every month or drop in occasionally, you’ll always leave with a deeper appreciation for the people and events that shaped our city.

There is no charge to attend, and everyone is welcome. To find out details about the next Lunch ‘N Learn program, please contact coordinator Barbara Pforr at (414) 425-0244 to discover the location of the event.

Bring your lunch, bring a friend, and bring your curiosity—we’ll provide the history!

Visitors to St. Peters Cemetery on South 68th Street participate in a Franklin Historical Society “Lunch and Learn” program in October 2025.

Guests of Franklin’s “Lunch and Learn” program toured various grave sites in St. Peters Cemetery on South 68th Street. A small private lake lies to the west of the cemetery.

One of the oldest monuments standing in the front of St. Peters Cemetery was dedicated to seven members of the William Boldt family. The cemetery was established in the 1870s and St. Peters Chapel, which accompanied it, was moved to Legend Park in 1983.
